Well after nearly two years of making mayhem at a plethora of events, from weddings to celebrations of every kind, Wandering Minstrel's profile has never been stronger.

What better time to announce a new kind of act!

We have performed every kind of song, from Robbie Williams to Puccini, from Bryan Adams to Nat King Cole, all with the aim of giving our clients a concert made to measure just for them. Could a concert be any more special?

Well, er, yes!

The client now has the option not only of hearing the songs that are special to them but of having those songs re-written with lyrics that feature the client as their subject matter. It's personal, risqué and very funny.  One special client wanted a 40th birthday to remember and she got it!  Here is one of three verses of Gilbert and Sullivan's great favourite "When a felon" that was re-written entirely for her:

When you're asked to write a song about a lady
It is best to ascertain just who she is
Is she tall or short, complexion bright or shady?
A wee bit dim or champion at a quiz?

It's hard to know from just a girl's demeanour
To what extent your eyes are being conned.
And it's rude to ask her, when you haven't seen her
In her birthday suit, if she is really blonde.

She also heard a bespoke medley from her favourite show 'Chess' and we finished off with a great sing-and-dance-along to Abba and Queen. It went down a storm!

And what do you sing for a girl on her wedding day who is four months pregnant as she strolls down the aisle? Her favourite musical was 'The Sound of Music' so we created a medley that included this gem:

(to the tune of 'I am sixteen going on seventeen')'

I've waited my life for my wedding day
And I've worked hard at collecting
A man and a dress and a nice bouquet
But that's not all I'm expecting

I am four months going on five months
Baby is on the way
Something far worse than Wedding Day nerves
made me throw up twice today.

I am four months going on five months
Soon I'll have quite a bump
Drinking in bars and working for Mars
Never got me this plump

How does it work?

Wandering Minstrel does an enormous amount of research: chatting and emailing carefully selected colleagues and friends in the know  (for everyone else it's a fabulous surprise). The songs (up to three of them) are written, approved and then learnt by heart for a one off performance that can never be repeated and will never be forgotten. For clients who are used to the very best, it is a remarkable and touching experience. Prices are on application and depend on the number of songs and singers required.
